I have been a member of Salt since it has started, and feel very privaleged to be part of such a caring and loving team of creative people. I really feel that God shows his gifts and diversity through the work that the team produce. I am 28, married for 6 1/2 years and have a cheeky son aged 4. We live in a lovely quaint town near the city of Bath, England. I became a Christian at the age of 15, and I am still learning more of God's grace (his undeserved favour). I have found God to be such a source of strength and help in my life, and I find that it is in those hard times that we can be drawn closer to Him. We never know what God has planned for our lives, but yet we can trust God not only as a friend, or as a Father, but so much more, as someone who is the Creator and Sovereign over all. I am always encouraged by the verse 'For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:11-13

Lovely to see your beautiful smiling photo, Esther and thanks for sharing about yourself. That verse from Jeremiah is also very precious to me x
I'm another one for whom that verse from Jerimiah is significant. I tried to tell the story to SALT because someone else featured it, but it got swallowed up somewhere along the line, so bear with me while I tell it (I'll do my best to be brief! ;) )
My dad died on Thursday, August 20 and this year is the twentieth anniversary of that event. The preceding Sunday my mother had been doing her daily reading and that verse just leapt out of the page; not only that, but she remembered the reference and mentioned it to my dad.
She had been unwell for the preceding two years and only that Sunday had she finished mending his favourite shirt which he wore to church. Everyone remembered him at that service as a lay minister of the Eucharist, so it was a shock to them to have him die of heart failure within the week.
Needless to say, it was to us, too. Just that week he had set in motion the process of resigning as a Name at Lloyd's, as he reckoned he could no longer take the risk of unlimited liability. The process normally takes three years, but on his death his liability ceased.
Before the three years were up, his firm (the founding non-marine syndicate and one of the most prestigeous) went down in the crisis that affected Lloyd's.
Had he still been alive we would have been liable for every last penny. His death was indeed the Lord prospering us. Some twelve years later a priest I knew said in a sermon: "The only safe thing is to do the will of God, because only He knows the future." I think of the future He knew and provided for in an event that could have seemed a cruel twist of fate ....
