Psalm 46: Be still

When I really need help I often go to the Psalms as they help me to express my feelings so well. For various reasons the last few weeks have been tough and the phrase that came to mind was from Psalm 46 "Be still and know that I am God". When I looked at the Psalm I noted some other really helpful verses

1 God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,

or from the Message
God is a safe place to hide, ready to help when we need him.

and also
11 The LORD Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.

I need to know that I am not on my own in all of this - that I can rest in God and he will give me strength. I wish I could follow Desmond Tutu's advice “I am far too busy to pray for less than two hours a day” I certainly need this time to reflect and create and be still with God

This is possibly my favourite Psalm. I would often use verse 1 or 10 when I am encouraging a friend in difficult time.

Ladies ... you opened my heart for a task from God.
As soon as I came to your blog last night, from Mona's blog, and I saw the first paragraph, God laid it so heavily on my heart that I had to take action not in 5 minutes, not tomorrow, but right now asap. My mother in law has a friend who has been fighting cancer for years now. I don't like this fellow. Nothing against him or anything like that, just don't like him (which I am entitled to - you don't have to 'like' everyone) but everyone gives me a lot of grief because I won't hug him when I see him or spend time with him. I don't feel that just because he has cancer I should like him and hug him and whatnot. I understand being friendly and open but he is not my friend. So. Background over. BAM on my heart that I need to make him a card to send right away. I don't have the pictures up on my blog yet, but it was this Post of Salt's that opened it for me and I made a card for him that made me feel as though my heart had been ripped out and put on the page. Thank you. Thank you for being a vortex for the voice of God.

I am working (putting off working) on an assignment for a bible study. We are to write a devotion about what we got from our study of Ruth. This is so far out of my comfort zone. Thank you for this encouragement that regardless of my insecurities--HE is God!

These are all so creative! I love the non-traditional look of these pages. To me, they reflect more of who the idividual is as opposed to how well they can combine color and design. Great job, everyone!

Beautiful!! This is one of my favorite Psalms, although they all seem to be favorites. :) It is very appropriate at this time in my life. Thank you for posting and for following the call God has placed on your life.
